To experience the wonder-struck beauty of this high altitude alphine meadows you need permission from DFO (District Forest office). It can be obtained either online or in person from District Forest Office in Uttarkashi or at the forest office in Gangotri
Perched at an elevation of 14,600ft, Gaumukh Tapovan, trails takes you to the lap of the mountains via dense forest, steep climbs, traversing the awe-inspiring glaciers.
Documents Required: You need to fill the form with personal details such as name, address etc. attached with government authorize identity proofs like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, or Voter’s ID.
Permission & Guides:
- For Tapovan Trek, permit and guide from registered tour agency is mandatory.
- For Gaumukh Trek, only permit is mandatory.
Online Trek Permit
- Submit the application form with required details and upload the copy of identity proof.
- Payment can be done online or in cash payment in Uttarkashi or Gangotri.
- Later you will receive a permit conformation email.
The printout or digital form of conformation email has to be show either at the DFO office in Uttarkashi or at the forest office in Gangotri along with your original documents to collect your permit.
