Gangotri is visited by spiritual seeker as well as adventurer. It serves as the base camp for Gaumukh Tapovan Trek in Gangotri National Park. Gangotri is only accessible by road, can be reached from Dehradun and Haridwar/Rishikesh.
By Bus
Take bus to Gangotri from Haridwar bus stand,
opposite to Railway Station. There are direct bus from Haridwar/Rishikesh to
Gangotri. But Rishikesh has better bus/shared jeep facility than Haridwar.
So it is advisible to board bus from Rishikesh.
The bus starts 4a.m onwards from Garhwal Motor
Owners Association bus stand at Rishikesh
Duration : 10-12 hours
Bus Timings : 04a.m. to 08a.m. or 09a.m (during
peak season)
➡️ Opt for train to reach Rishikesh from Haridwar to avoid the huge traffic and save time.
In case of unavailability of direct bus you can break the journey
Dehradun to Gangotri - 240km/ 8hrs.
This can be done via bus/shared jeep. During Char Dham Yatra the buses fill up quickly. Be sure to check the timings of the bus beforehand.
