Museum of the Future - A journey to the year 2071'

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” ― Søren Kierkegaard

Dubai has strikingly impressive architecture on every corner. It is home to the World's tallest tower, shopping malls, most luxurious hotels, the Palm Island and much more. The newest iconic building is the Museum of the Future.

It will transport you to the year 2071, giving you the glimpse into what life would be, after 49 from now.

Museum of the Future, looks like a giant eye looking into the future. Everything in the museum is from the present and the future and will be continuously updated, as per the changes in future technology and inventions. Due to which it is called as “The Living Museum”

This building is also unique because it is made up of 1,024 bytes in one kilobytes and each panel is covered  with Arabic quotes. It's the only building in the world covered with a language.

About the Museum

The experimental tour to the year 2071  is done with the help of the latest technologies  -  artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, big data analysis and human machine interaction to answer  many questions related to the future of humanity, life on earth and outer space.

It is more like a laboratory showcasing the innovation of the future. Rather than the traditional museum, where things are exhibited, preserved or studied.

Museum Design and Architecture

This seven-storey, pillar-less structure (Zero corners - zero columns) is an engineering marvel. Spread around the area of 30,548 sq.m and rising to the height of 77 meters/225 feet.

The facade is made out of stainless steel and consists of 1,024 pieces manufactured by a specialised robot assisted process. The torus-shaped building depicts a ring around a void, designed to represent future knowledge that is yet to be revealed.

The futuristic museum was created by Dubai Future Foundation and designed by Shaun Killa and the inspirational quotes in Arabic Calligraphy, designed by Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej

The exterior of the building is engraved with inspirational quotes in Arabic Calligraphy featuring lines from the ruler of Dubai – HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

It say一

"المستقبل سيكون لمن يستطيع تخيله وتصميمه وتنفيذه. المستقبل لا ينتظر..المستقبل يمكن تصميمه وبناؤه اليوم."

“The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it and execute it. It isn't something you await, but rather create.”

"سر تجدد الحياة وتطور الحضارة وتقدم البشرية هو في كلمة واحدة: الابتكار."

“The secret to the renewal of life for corporations, to the evolution of civilizations, and to the development of humanity is simple: innovation.”

"لن نعيش مئات السنين، ولكن يمكن أن نبدع شيئا يستمر مئات السنين."

“We may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone.”

What to expect at Museum of the Future

The building is massive and beautiful and each floor of the museum is designed like an interactive movie set. A wrist band will be given to you, after you enter the museum.

The museum is divided into five chapters. The main action starts from the fifth floor. There is an  elevator which will take you on the fifth floor from where the epic journey will start.

The elevator is designed like a spaceship with a screen on the top and both sides of the elevator,  it gives the feeling of an actual spaceship. As you take off you can see leaving Dubai (Year - 2071) and Earth  behind and the space station lies ahead where you will be landing.

Chapter I (5th Floor) : OSS HOPE - Future Space Travel

The 5th floor is dedicated to the journey to the space station of the future on the moon(600 kms from earth). The room looks like the actual space station with a giant window looking at the moon

There is an actual NASA approved design of a space station. An interactive walk through space station that shows - Solar System, International Space Station and you’ll also get a live feed of what's happening on earth at that moment.

OSS HOPE

Chapter II (4th Floor) : The Healing Institute

- To protect the natural ecosystem.

This floor is dedicated to Climate Change and Ecology i.e. how we can use artificial intelligence and science in order to heal rainforests, to help with climate control issues by researching the past and present of the different species.

Digital Amazon Rainforest -

Experience the mixed reality recreation of the Amazon Rainforest with interplay of hundreds of species and observe details invisible to the naked eye.

The Vault of Life or Library of Life -

This room has over 2400 DNA sampling and genetics of extinct or endangered  species(plants ans animals). The device is provided to actually scan the specimen and to learn more about each animal or plant on display.

The Laboratory -

This place is to test out different modifications made to the DNA in order to fight adverse climate changes which will happen in the future.

Chapter III (3rd Floor) : Al-Waha

- Disconnection from technology

The AL-Waha translates to “the Oasis” in english. This place is more like a sanctuary designed to escape from digital life and revive your scenes. Here you can indulge in

Universal Harmony - you sit around the table with other visitors and hum through the mark on the table. together. Perhaps it conveys that we can achieve harmony by working.

Movement Therapy - where you actually walk around in a pit that feels like actual sand but it’s not made of sand. It is really mind-boggling.

Meditation Space - It is super unique, calm and peaceful.

Chapter IV (2nd Floor) - Tomorrow Today

This part of the museum exhibits the craziest ideas of the future technologies - from super futuristic drones to self -driving cars or flying suits with jet packs or Cyber (robotic) dogs. Explore near-future technologies from the world’s leading innovators

Second floor also has the most exciting part of the museum - The Viewing Deck. Get the best panoramic view of the Sheikh Zayed Road and surrounding area. It is one of the best photo spots at the museum

Chapter V (1st floor) - Future Heros

The entire floor is dedicated to encouraging kids to be creative and learn things while having fun. The games are designed to encourage critical thinking, take challenges  and  these qualities are rewarded with badges. It is an open world for kids to play and explore.

It is a seven storey building where the 7th floor is a large area, maybe designed for special events or public meetings; you will need a special access permission for this area.

After taking a journey to and from the year 2071,  if you feel hungry, then, check out the cafe at the museum, located in the lobby. At this cafe you scan the menus, prices will be displayed on your mobile screen and the barista is actually a robot serving you drinks!

Also checkout the Souvenir shop to take the gift to your family and friends

I think this mind-blogging museum is designed to help educate people about -  “What we might see in 2071?” or “What will the future look like once we are multi-planetary?”
